David M. Spungen

Partner and Wealth Advisor

He is responsible for formulation and oversight of the firm's investment policy and implementation of client portfolios. Additionally, Mr. Spungen manages the firm's asset allocation optimization, portfolio construction, manager selection and monitoring efforts. He has more than 25 years of investment experience covering a broad spectrum of capital markets investing and extensive experience in providing independent, objective advice to wealthy individuals and families.

Prior to founding Hillview, Mr. Spungen was the founder of the Capital Management Division of CMS Companies in 1989, where he also served as a principal from 1995-1999. Mr. Spungen was previously an Associate with Ryan, Beck & Company. He served as a Director of M Funds, Inc., M Financial Investment Advisors, and Hirtle Callaghan Trust. He is currently a Member of the Board and is Co-Chairman of the Outreach Committee at The Child Center of NY.

Mr. Spungen holds a B.A. from University of Pennsylvania.

Jonathan J. Hochberg

Partner and Wealth Advisor

He is responsible for management of the firm, including the formulation of strategy and management of client relationships. Additionally, he coordinates the firm's relationships with legal, tax and insurance professionals. Mr. Hochberg is a member of the firm's Investment Committee. He has more than 25 years of investment experience in a variety of traditional and alternative investment strategies, and extensive experience advising wealthy individuals and families in a broad array of areas, including: estate, tax, insurance planning and charitable giving strategies.

Prior to joining Hillview Capital, a division of RegentAtlantic, Mr. Hochberg was Managing Director of M.D. Sass Investors Services, Inc.  He was previously Managing Director of the Private Equity Group at CIBC World Markets Corp. He began his career as a Loan Officer with National Westminster Bank PLC and then joined a New York-based certified public accounting firm, where he was Director of Management Advisory Services.

Mr. Hochberg is a member of the Board of Trustees and serves as Chairman of the Investment Committee of The Jewish Home and Hospital Lifecare System. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA) and the Federal Enforcement Homeland Security Foundation. He serves on the Board of Advisors of the George Washington University School of Business and Fuel for Truth. He is a member of U.J.A. Federation's Investment Advisors Division, Variety - The Children's Charity Wall Street Division.

Mr. Hochberg holds an M.B.A. in Finance from The Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University and a B.B.A. in Accounting from The George Washington University.

Paul Platkin, CFA

Partner and Co-Head of Investments

Mr. Platkin brings more than 20 years of experience as a hands-on investment professional who has managed all aspects of multi-asset portfolios.  His experience, both as an allocator and direct investor, has been global in nature, as well as broad in scope, covering an expansive range of investment strategies and asset classes.

Prior to joining Hillview Capital, a division of RegentAtlantic in 2016, Mr. Platkin spent 3 years as Chief Investment Officer of Gruss & Co., a substantial single family office located in New York and Florida.  From 2003 through 2012, Mr. Platkin served as Chief Investment Officer of Robeco-Sage Capital Management (subsequently Arden-Sage after it was acquired), a $2 billion multi-strategy hedge fund-of-funds manager.  Mr. Platkin began his financial career at General Motors, where he spent almost a decade working at both the Treasurer’s Office and General Motors Asset Management, the $90 billion pension manager.  Among other responsibilities at the pension fund, Mr. Platkin was responsible for all shorter-term asset allocation activities, as well as setting the longer-term strategic asset allocation mix.

Mr. Platkin holds an M.B.A. in Finance and International Business from Columbia Business School and a B.S.B.A. in Finance from Georgetown University.  Mr. Platkin is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.
